“Numero” is derived from numeric means numbers, while “logy” refers to the study. Numerology is the study of numbers to discover information about different perspectives of the world, or individuals. It will be right to say that numerology is the language that makes you communicate and read information through numbers or digits. It sounds pretty complex but interesting, so I decided to share a useful stack of details about what is numerology.
What Is Numerology?
You must have aware of Astrology and Zodiac; the numerology is a little bit similar to that but it is more intricate and vast. There are many divisions and methods of numerology through which you can receive information about numbers. The main idea of the foundation of numerology is that the systematic universe once broke down and apart into pieces or elements called numbers. Now, using these numbers we can understand individuals and the world in a better way.

Background Of Numerology
Whenever we study something it is important to begin with the history or background of that particular matter for better understanding. As far as numerology is concerned, the conversion of numerical values to names, religious terms, dates, and other meanings is called gematria. The practice of gematria started in ancient times (from the 8th century BC) by Sargon II (a conqueror of the Sargonid Dynasty).
This is not the word of mouth only, as all the information related to numerology is literature in Hebrew Bible or Rabbinic writings. According to the literature, numerology started when the king created a wall of Khorsabad (a village in northern Iraq) which was 16,283 cubits in height. This wall was made to resemble the numeric name of the king.
In the Roman Empire, numerology was termed isomorphism in which the numeric values of each letter of a word are used to create a single number. The isopsephy was used in Green Orthodox despite all the arguments circulated at that time because the numerology was resisted in churches. But due to the literature and people’s interest in numerology, it never extinct.

Then, there are a few alchemical studies too that are strongly related to the study of numbers. The famous alchemist of history “Jabir ibn Hayyan” explained all his experiments and doings in numerology based on the terminologies used in Arabic. Additionally, the 6th-century mystic and theorist named “Pythagoras” also put belief in numbers and coding and create certain theorems.
In 1658, another prominent name appeared in the history of numerology “Sir Thomas Browne”, who wrote a book called “The Garden of Cyrun” about the demonstration of numbers. His writing well depicts the importance of numerology in art, culture, design, and nature. That’s not the end of numerology history as the field and language kept grooming in years, and the evidence is here we are talking about it in 2022.
How does Numerology Work?
Hey, Harry Potter fam! In the era of Harry Potter, the favorite subject of Granger was “Arithmancy”. It’s true that novels do not possess much information about the arithmancy but it does depict the magic of numbers. The characters learned through charts and numerals, perform divination and make assumptions about the future. At that time, all this looks quite fascinating, but I never thought of studying that language.
Don’t get confused between the two terms as numerology is also called arithmancy. The numerologists say that everything in this world is connected to the numeric, as numbers hold mystical characteristics. With this belief, numerology got expanded with every generation, and practitioners started relating the power of crystals, colors, essential oils, gemstones, and more to numbers.
When the theory becomes more advanced, the numerologists give each number a certain trait which is called vibration. These vibrations can illuminate a person’s behavior and risen the compatibility and romanticism between partners. The analysis can also find out the lucky number of an individual and the lucky day of his life; so, all this works on numbers and add significance to the people’s lives and events.
The general idea of numerology is that nothing in this universe happens accidentally, but everything is linked to numbers. As we discussed in the history part, Pythagoras played a significant role in putting numerology into practical life. But the historians don’t talk much about Pythagoras because after his death, there was a conflict going on about his discoveries as some agreed with his knowledge while others argue the things he describes.
Mainly, Pythagoras finds out the link between numerology or numbers and personality traits. His writings and theories were sums of mathematics, philosophy, and music, and all these studies were called Pythagorean discoveries. Many important studies are included in school syllabuses and degree programs we earned now in 2022 like the Pythagorean theorem, mathematical proportions, Pythagoras constant, and more.
The Pythagoras also believed in the mystical and majestic traits of numbers and his fascination gave birth to discoveries about number theology. One of his famous theories said that if you add a series of odd numbers, you’ll always get a square digit in the answer. Findings like this develop a thought in the mind of Pythagoras and his followers that “ALL IS NUMBER”. Let’s discuss shortly:
This concept (ALL IS NUMBER) has many different explanations, like everything in this world is consist of numbers, every object has a numerical value, and so forth. According to Pythagoras, everything in this world is measurable in terms of numeric values and dimensions. These Pythagoras’ reasonable findings opened new doors in the palace of science and mathematics and influenced researchers, scientists, and discoverers all around the globe.

Methods Of Numerology
As I said before, there are many different methods of numerology, unlike Astrology, as it is a vast field. So, I decided to briefly highlight the majorly used and important methods of numerology including Alphanumeric systems, Latin alphabet systems, Chaldean method, Agrippan method, Pythagorean method, and English Qaballa.
Alphanumeric Systems
The alphanumeric or alphameric system encompasses A to Z alphabets and numerical values both. This system is designed for users who know the English language. Alphameric is comprised of twenty-six letters and ten Arabic numbers i.e., A to Z (uppercase and lowercase) and 0 to 9. The alphanumeric system is extensively used in computing and logical implication.
Latin Alphabet Systems
Latin alphabet system, also called the Roman alphabets are a collection of letters used by ancients to write the languages (modern languages). Latin is the most used writing system in the world and is of great importance. The system has a total of 52 letters including both uppercase and lowercase, ten numerals, various symbols, and punctuation marks. The Latin alphabet system is the standard set of many languages spoken in Europe.
Pythagorean Method
Well, that’s what we have discussed a lot already. The Pythagorean numerical system is a pseudo-science that links every letter of a word to a number. This system is based on all the discoveries by Pythagoras and is useful in science and mathematics.
Chaldean Method
The Chaldean method uses a name that consists of digits to calculate the value of each letter. This numeric system has all 26 letters and numbers ranging from one to eight. While the number nine is not used by the Chaldean system.
Agrippa Method
Then comes the Agrippan method of numerology which is also based on the Latin alphabet. It uses only nine numbers ranging from 1 to 9 and assigns the values. The Agrippa method is also considered similar to the Chaldean numerology.
English Qaballa (EQ)
Last but not the least, we have English Qaballa, shortly called EQ. It is another arithmancy system that interprets English letters and assigns each digit. This system was discovered in 1976 by James Lees and purposely it is used to understand and interpret mysteries.
Facts About Numerology
Positive & Negative Numbers
The numbers include both positive and negative figures, which is important to be recognized in the first place. In general, all the numbers in numerology can be both positive and negative like -1, -2, -3, +1, +2, +3, and so forth. You see, there is a balance maintained in the self of each number which can be influenced by several impact-causing factors, which will be further elaborated in numerology. So, it’s a number one fact that numbers in numerology can be “+” or “-“.
Numerology Master Numbers
The second fact is numerology master numbers which are 11, 22, and 33. These special numbers are pretty powerful and meaningful and can cause a wide impact on anything: good or bad. Therefore, the interpretation of these master numbers of numerology is of great concern. For your information, these numbers are mostly used for guiding someone about different aspects of life.
Several methods can be used to determine the true meaning of these double-digit values. In general, the double-digit values are usually the birthday numbers and using those numbers in numerology, fate, future, and traits can be identified. Let’s see the meanings of master numbers from a numerology perspective.
For example, the 11 master number refers to faith and instinct and it could be signified as anxiety, depression, and fear of something. On the other hand, the master number 22 means ambition, aspiration, dream, and success. This is considered a powerful indicator of guidance and a lot more terminologies. While the 33-master number’s core meaning is an expression, of living, life expectancy, personality traits, and more.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Numerology is a broad language or field that is evolving and spreading around the globe mainly due to its accuracy. People get encouraged and attracted to numerology and put strong faith in it as it uncovers true insights, information about the future, and other life-related truths and facts. In short, numerology determines strengths and weaknesses through discovery and knowledge.
